For defender Axel Tuanzebe, it is not only a sporting challenge, but also a manifestation of his identity and heritage. "African football has been in the shadows for too long. It's time to shine a light on it," says Tuanzebe, who was born in DR Congo and later moved to England, where he developed at Manchester United's academy. After playing in the Premier League and Champions League, he has decided to represent the country of his birth internationally from 2024. In the conversation, Tuanzebe emphasizes how important it is for him to inspire young talents from Africa and promote football on this continent. He talks about the hardships his parents went through to give him a better life in England and how important it is for him to represent Congo at the highest level. "I want young African players to boldly follow their dreams and take advantage of every opportunity," he adds. For Tuanzebe, playing for Congo is not only an obligation, but also a way to show the world the potential of African football, which has been underestimated for too long.
