Brighton finalizes record transfer of Łukasz Vusković for £46 million

 Brighton have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the record transfer of Croatian defender Lukasz Vuskovic for £46 million. Two offers were previously rejected, but the clubs have now agreed an agreement which could include additional payments taking the transfer amount to £50 million. The 19-year-old player will undergo medical tests after Croatia's appearance at the World Cup. Vuskovic, born in Split, came through the academy of local club Hajduk, becoming the youngest player to play in Croatia's top flight at the age of 16, as well as the youngest goalscorer in the club's history. In September 2023, he agreed to a transfer to Tottenham, which was to take place in 2025. Although he is yet to make his debut for Spurs, Vuskovic played 30 games on loan at German club Hamburg last season, scoring six goals in the Bundesliga. Now he is one of the most highly rated young center backs in Europe. He will replace Jan Paul van Hecke in Fabian Hurzeler's squad. The irony is that Van Hecke is moving in the opposite direction after Tottenham agreed to pay £52 million for the Dutch player, who had one year left on his Brighton contract.
