Carles Martinez is the new coach of Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer 04 Leverkusen announced today that Carles Martinez is the club's new coach, replacing Kasper Hjulmand. The Spanish coach, who previously worked at FC Toulouse, signed a contract with the German team until 2028. "We would like to thank Kasper Hjulmand for his work and commitment last season," said Werner Wenning, chairman of Bayer 04's supervisory board, in an official statement from the club. At the same time, Fernando Carro, chairman of the board, expressed hope for the future: "Our goal is to stay at the highest level and strengthen our position among the leading clubs in Europe. We believe that Carles Martinez, with his impressive coaching profile, fits our expectations perfectly."  Carles Martinez is a relatively unknown figure on the German coaching scene, but over the last three and a half years he has gained experience managing FC Toulouse. Previously, he was associated with the FC Barcelona football academy, which proves his high qualifications. In turn, Kasper Hjulmand's departure is not a surprise. Although the Danish coach stabilized the situation in the team after the unsuccessful cooperation with Erik ten Hag, the season ended in sixth place in the table, which was not enough to qualify for the Champions League.
