Deniz Undav is Germany's hero in the match against Ivory Coast

Julian Nagelsmann sees Deniz Undav as an ideal replacement for the German national team, describing him as a "born goalscorer". Undav came on as a substitute, scoring two goals to give Germany a 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast at Toronto Stadium. In the 69th minute, after a cross from Nadiem Amiri, Undav equalized the score, responding to Franck Kessie's first-half goal. However, in added time, after a precise pass from Felix Nmecha, Undav scored his second goal, ensuring Germany's advancement to the knockout phase. The VfB Stuttgart striker was directly involved in five goals as a substitute in Germany's two World Cup matches, a record shared with Roger Milla in 1990. Although Nagelsmann appreciates his talent, it does not mean that he will be a regular starter. "Deniz scored two great goals. He is a born goalscorer and he finished both chances instinctively," said Nagelsmann. "He may start as a starter, but he's doing great in his current role. It could go either way."  Deniz Undav is the first player since Miroslav Klose in 2002 to score in his first two World Cup appearances for Germany. “When I stepped onto the pitch, I knew I had to make the most of every opportunity,” admitted Undav. "We were a bit lucky, but everything is in my favor at the moment. I'm trying to continue this streak and enjoy every moment." Despite the defeat, Ivory Coast performed very well and their coach Emerse Fae admitted that the margins in this match were very tight. What is worrying for the Germans is the injury suffered by Nico Schlotterbeck, which appears to be serious. "Nico probably suffered a ligament injury.
