Filippo Antonelli on Venezia's plans for the future

During the Festival della Serie A, which takes place in Parma, Filippo Antonelli, sporting director of the Venezia club, answered the question whether Venezia could become the new Como. He stressed that the club has had a difficult road ahead, returning to Serie A for the third time in the last six years. Financial challenges arose early on as previous investments burdened the club following relegation, requiring many sacrifices. Antonelli noted that two years ago the club focused on value creation and achieved a significant financial surplus thanks to the sale of the player Doumbia. The amount of EUR 20-25 million will be reinvested on the transfer market, which will allow the club's budget to increase. The goal is to stay in Serie A by investing in player ownership and developing player trading.  The club also focuses on youth development through the "Venezia Futuro" project, which aims to raise young academy players, tie them emotionally to the club, and if they do not become football players, they can become its employees or fans. Unfortunately, statistics show that there are currently no youth players in the first team, but the club is working intensively on it by investing in infrastructure and coaches. Antonelli emphasized that the huge financial success of the transfer of Doumbia, who was purchased from Albinoleffe for one million euros, is an example of the club's strategy. Although it was initially considered a risky decision, the investment paid off.
