Hervé Renard is the new coach of Tunisia for the 2026 World Cup

The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) took decisive steps during the 2026 World Cup by officially announcing that Frenchman Hervé Renard was the new national team coach. This decision was taken after Tunisia's heavy 1-5 defeat to Sweden in the first match of Group F, which led to the dismissal of Sabri Lamouchi. In an official statement, the federation announced that Renard would take up the position immediately and would work on the same financial terms as the previous coaching staff. The contract binds the renowned French coach with the team until the end of the current World Cup campaign. After the tournament, both sides will begin negotiations on a long-term project.  The fast pace of events leaves no time for the new coach to delay. The federation confirmed that the official press conference with Renard would take place on the training pitch, just half an hour before his first training session with the players. This sudden change in coaching position during the tournament brings back memories of the past for the "Carthage Eagles". This is not the first time the Tunisian national team has changed their coach during the World Cup. A similar turbulent situation occurred during the 1998 World Cup in France.
