Former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Iker Kasilyas is suing the Portuguese club FC Porto, demanding compensation of EUR 3.7 million. According to the footballer, his health was damaged. In May 2019, Kasilyas suffered a heart attack during training. According to the information contained in the lawsuit, the former goalkeeper of the "Royals" associates this incident with excessive physical workload in the Portuguese club. The lawsuit states that due to health problems, he has lost the ability to work and has been experiencing serious consequences of his illnesses for the last five years. ![Image](https://img.championat.com/s/1200x630/news/big/d/s/kasilyas-podal-isk-v-sud-na-.jpg) At a court hearing in Portugal, the 45-year-old athlete said: "I go to the gym, I play padel, but I can't run - a maximum of 20-50 meters. I can't do more." Earlier, team doctor Nelson Puga claimed that the goalkeeper's condition was stable and the problem had been resolved. In his opinion, Kasilyas should fully recover from the illness, and the physical strain during training was not the cause of the heart attack that ended his career. It is now up to the Portuguese court to determine whether Kasilyas is entitled to benefits for the complete and permanent loss of his ability to work as a professional athlete. The amount of such compensation could be EUR 2.5 million (approximately 70% of the salary), which the player would receive under the contract until June 2021. The Fidelidade insurance company paid the footballer EUR 1.5 million, which is the maximum annual amount of compensation under an accident insurance policy. FC Porto itself declares that it paid Kasilyas's salary in full (over EUR 1 million) until his final departure from the sport, which is why the club and the insurer refuse to pay additional amounts.
