On July 3, 2025, the brothers died in a car accident. The monument, called "Forever 20", is located on Anfield's 97th Avenue, where there was previously a temporary memorial created by fans. It consists of a heart-shaped sculpture made of Portuguese Granby Rock stone, with a laser engraving dedicated to both brothers. Elements of the monument reflect Diogo's life outside football. "Forever 20" is intended to be an eternal symbol of love, unity and remembrance, as well as a place of reflection and tribute, as stated in the club's official statement.
