Lucas Bergvall as Anderson's potential successor at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest faces the challenge of finding a replacement for Elliot Anderson, who joined from Newcastle United for £35 million two years ago. At that time, Forest did not permanently sign any defensive midfielder, but only loaned Douglas Luiz and James Ward-Prowse, who started a total of 14 matches. Amid interest from Manchester City and Manchester United, Forest have identified Tottenham Hotspur's Lucas Bergvall as a potential replacement for Anderson. Bergvall, who is currently with Sweden at the World Cup, has similar versatility to Anderson and has Premier League experience, making him a suitable candidate for Forest's midfield. Bergvall, known for his ball-handling skills and toughness off the ball, could fill Anderson's void by teaming up with Ibrahim Sangaré and Morgan Gibbs-White.  Despite his potential, Bergvall is not yet a fully developed player, especially when it comes to playing the ball from deep, which was key in the Anderson-Sangaré duo. Forest, however, has already successfully invested in young players, as shown by the examples of Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga. An alternative for Bergvall may be transfers to Aston Villa or Newcastle United, which also need fresh blood in the squad.
