Malaga returns to LaLiga after an eight-year break

 Malaga ended their eight-year absence from LaLiga with a 2-1 victory over Almeria in the second leg of the promotion play-off final. After relegation from the Spanish top flight in the 2017/18 season, the team led by Juan Francisco Funes returned to LaLiga after a goalless draw in the first match. Both teams struggled to test their goalkeepers in the first half, but Malaga took the lead in the 65th minute when Chupe beat Andres Fernandez from close range. Six minutes later it was even better for Malaga when Chupe played to Larrubia, who received the ball and then placed it beautifully into the top left corner of the goal. Almeria responded in the 76th minute with a goal by Leo Baptistao, but the end of the match brought red cards for both teams. The first one was shown to Almeria substitute Thalys for raising his hands to Izan Merino. Aaron Ochoa from Malaga was sent off for receiving a second yellow card in added time.
