Manchester City close to transferring Jeremy Mong from Leicester City! Arsenal quits the race

Manchester City is in the final stages of finalizing the transfer of young and talented winger from Leicester City, Jeremy Mong. The transfer is the result of intense efforts by new Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca, who is using his knowledge of Leicester's talents to pull off the move. Arsenal, who were also interested in signing Mong, withdrew from the race, believing that the price for the player was too high. Leicester City, after suffering a painful relegation to League One following a six-point deduction for violating profitability and sustainability rules, is struggling to retain its best young talent. Relegation to the third tier of English football for the first time since the 2008/09 season has weakened the club's ability to retain its prospects. Previously, the club had already lost players such as Trey Nyoni, who joined Liverpool, and Tyrese Noubissie, who joined Manchester City.  According to The Athletic, Manchester City are working on finalizing a deal for Jeremy Mong for around £10 million. The clubs are in direct contact and the transfer is close to completion. The young player made his Premier League debut at the age of 15 years and 271 days, becoming the third youngest player in the history of the competition. In the 2025/26 season, Monga played 30 matches in the Championship. Last July, Monga signed a one-year scholarship that will automatically become a full professional contract on his 17th birthday. Such a deal prevents top clubs from signing him for a small compensation fee, forcing Manchester City to make a formal offer of eight figures.
