Marten de Roon explains Ademola Lookman's situation at Atalanta

 Marten de Roon, Atalanta's midfielder and captain, gave an extensive interview on the Supernova podcast, in which he addressed several topics related to the club, including the situation of Ademola Lookman. Last summer, when there was speculation about his possible transfer to Inter, Lookman decided to train individually. De Roon explained that it was not the result of a club decision, but the player's personal choice. "He wasn't left out of the team, he was the one who wanted to train alone because of these transfer rumors. He was probably a little distracted. He was with us in the locker room, we talked normally," said the Atalanta captain. De Roon emphasized his position: "We always wanted him in the team because he is a great player. I believe that no matter what the situation, you must always train and behave well towards the team and the club. On the pitch you have to train and play; then you can go to the office with the management and say whatever you want." De Roon also noted that he did not agree with Lookman's approach: "I don't like managing players who don't show up at the sports center because, in my opinion, that's never the right approach. It can cause a bit of tension. In the end, he didn't leave Atalanta and came back to the team. Maybe some players thought: 'He can do whatever he wants and then play in my place?'.
