Michael Skubala takes the helm at Bristol City: a new chapter in his career

Michael Skubala, the new coach of Bristol City, has expressed his excitement about the new challenge presented to him by the Ashton Gate club. Skubala, who led Lincoln City to promotion to the second tier for the first time since 1961, insisted the decision to leave Lincoln was difficult but necessary. “It was a really difficult decision to leave Lincoln, I have nothing bad to say about the club, great place to work, great management, great ownership,” Skubala told BBC Radio Bristol. Skubala, who led Lincoln to the League One title despite having one of the smallest budgets in the league, insisted the challenge at Bristol City was equally exciting. “I always say it's worth leaving a job better than you started it, and I feel I did that at Lincoln,” he added. Bristol City currently aspires to promotion to the Premier League, which, as Skubala emphasizes, will take time. "Rome was not built in one day," he noted.  The new coach Robins emphasizes that the employment process was thorough and well-thought-out, which allowed the club to get to know him better. Skubala did not sign a new contract with Lincoln before moving to Ashton Gate, which was part of his career plan. “I want to focus on winning football games,” he said. “If you can unscrew this mechanism, you can achieve anything.” Skubala plans to analyze the squad and perhaps strengthen the team in the transfer window, using the available budget.
