Nathan Ake moves to Fenerbahce after six successful years at Manchester City

 Nathan Ake is officially on the move from Manchester City to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, ending a successful six-year spell at the Etihad Stadium. Fenerbahce confirmed the transfer on Friday, after reaching an agreement with the player. However, the club did not disclose the length of the contract or the financial details of the transaction. 31-year-old Ake leaves Manchester as one of the most reliable defenders who contributed to one of the most important periods in the club's history. He joined City from Bournemouth in 2020 for around €45 million and has played 177 games in all competitions. His achievements include four English league titles and the Champions League. Known for his versatility, Ake can play both at center back and on the left side. Appreciated for his calmness with the ball, tactical intelligence and consistency in important matches. Although injuries disrupted some of his seasons in Manchester, he remained an important member of the team. Ake also represented the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup in North America, appearing in three of his national team's four matches, including the round of 16 loss to Morocco. His departure coincides with a period of significant change at Manchester City, after Pep Guardiola ended his highly successful spell as manager and was replaced by Enzo Maresca. Ake's transfer is also a significant move by Fenerbahce, which is trying to regain the title of champion of the Turkish Super League. The Yellow Canaries narrowly lost the championship competition last season, finishing just a point behind their biggest rivals, Galatasaray. The club also changed its coach when Ismail Kartal returned for a fourth term as coach following the departure of Domenico Tedesco. Ake is expected to join his new teammates at Fenerbahce's pre-season training camp in Austria once all administrative formalities have been completed.
