Pio Esposito: "I'm glad I could help Italy"

 Francesco Pio Esposito is happy to have scored Italy's winner against Luxembourg and already feels like a veteran compared to his current teammates. The Azzurri had an almost completely changed squad for today's test at Stade de Luxembourg, with eight debutants in the starting XI and a total of 15 players making their debuts in the match. However, the scorer of the only goal, the Inter striker, already made his eighth appearance for the senior Italian national team. "I'm glad I could help the team achieve a good result. Even though it was a friendly match, we approached it very seriously and with maximum commitment," Pio Esposito said in an interview with RAI Sport. The Inter striker has an excellent record for the national team, scoring four goals in eight games. “When I step on the pitch, I try to give my all, not only in scoring goals, but I also try to be helpful to my teammates,” he assured. "It was a great feeling to be close to my teammates who were making their debut today. I was in their situation just a few months ago, it was great to see their emotions before the match and when they took the pitch." Even though today's Italy squad was very experimental, the results of friendly matches count towards the FIFA rankings and the Italian national team now needs every point. "We carry a great responsibility because we play for the Italian national team. We are indeed a young team, but I think we are valuable players and we have to prove it in every match," concluded Esposito.
