Draw in the Czech Republic - South Africa match at the 2026 World Cup, despite Sadílek's quick goal

The Czech Republic failed to collect the first three points at the 2026 World Cup, despite a quick goal from Michal Sadílek. The Slavia Prague player scored in the 5th minute of the match against South Africa, taking advantage of an error by defender Khuliso Mudau. After Sojka's cross, Sadílek calmly beat goalkeeper Ronwen Williams to give the Czechs an early lead. Despite a promising start, the match did not bring many emotions. Only at the end of the first half did South Africa create a real threat, but goalkeeper Matej Kovar avoided a mistake when none of the South African players managed to take advantage of his bad intervention.  It seemed that Sadílek's goal would be enough to win, but in the last minutes of the match, referee Tori Penso, the second woman in the history of the World Cup as the main referee, awarded a penalty kick to South Africa after a handball by Pavel Šulc. Teboho Mokoena made no mistake from eleven meters and scored the equalizing goal.
