Ross McCrorie returns to Rangers from Bristol City

 Ross McCrorie reunites with manager Derek McInnes and returns to Rangers after Bristol City accepted an undisclosed offer from the Ibrox club. The 28-year-old defender agreed to a three-year contract, with an option to extend it for another year. He began his career in the Rangers academy, making his debut in September 2017 and making over 50 appearances before spending three seasons at Aberdeen under McInnes. "It's a dream come true to return to the team I support," McCrorie told Rangers club media. "I'm no longer the little guy who was at Rangers a few years ago. I've changed a lot, both in character and in my game. I feel like I'm ready now and I want to come back here to win trophies." McCrorie joined Ashton Gate in the summer of 2023 for a fee estimated at £2m and has made 89 appearances for City - 41 of them last season. In May, the Championship club exercised the option to extend his contract by one year. Called up twice to the Scotland squad and included in the Euro 2024 squad, McCrorie regularly played as a right-back for City but can play in a variety of defensive positions and was also used as a midfielder - his primary position during his first spell at Rangers. McCrorie was given the number 2, vacated by long-time club captain James Tavernier, who left Rangers after 11 years. “Ross is someone I signed at Aberdeen when he came from Rangers and at the time he wanted to show what he could do, so that says a lot about him,” said McInnes, who became Rangers coach last week. "He has developed as a player, he has gained experience, he is a full international and he knows the club like no one else. In the conversations I have had with him, a lot of the things he is seeking are in line with what he wants from the club, so he is a determined and very competitive player.
