Sunderland target Villarreal midfielder

According to a recent report by journalist Harry Watkinson, Sunderland are among the clubs keen to sign Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye. It was mentioned that the Black Cats will have to compete with Everton, Crystal Palace and Brighton in the fight to acquire the Senegalese player in this transfer window. Gueye was an important member of Villarreal's squad last season, where he impressed with his performances in midfield. The 27-year-old scored five goals and provided several assists in 39 matches in all competitions for the Spanish team.  The Senegalese is currently considered one of the most talented midfielders in La Liga. Therefore, Sunderland will need to make a convincing offer if they are serious about signing him this year. His current contract with the Spanish club is valid until the summer of 2028, which may make it difficult for the Black Cats to sign him on favorable terms in this transfer window. Gueye is a very hard-working player who plays well in defense. He can sense the situation on the pitch well, thanks to which he recovers the ball for his team. He usually takes the ball away from opponents decisively and passes well. He can also score goals and assist. However, time will tell whether he can cope with the physicality and high pace of play in the Premier League if Sunderland manage to sign him. Gueye can be expected to add quality and depth to Sunderland's midfield under Regis Le Bris. He has all the advantages to fight for a place in the squad for next season. At the age of 27, he is in the best period of his career, so Sunderland should consider signing him.
