According to reports, Sunderland is trying to sign Folarin Balogun, the AS Monaco striker, but he faces stiff competition. According to journalist Mark Brus, the "Black Cats" will have to face clubs such as Aston Villa, Everton, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest in the race to sign this American striker this summer.  Balogun has had a very successful season in Ligue 1. In 43 matches, he scored 19 goals and provided 5 assists. He is currently considered one of the best strikers in Ligue 1. If Sunderland managed to sign him, they would gain a player who would certainly strengthen the team's attack. Balogun's current contract with AS Monaco is valid until the summer of 2028, so the Black Cats will have to submit a very attractive offer to have a chance to acquire this player. Balogun can surprise his opponents with clever moves and is also good at combination play. He is only 24 years old, so the best years of his career are still ahead of him. He should be able to challenge for a place in the Sunderland squad in future seasons. In the upcoming season, he could help the team compete for places in the top part of the Premier League table.
