Thomas Tuchel appeals to FIFA to change the positioning of photographers during the anthems

Thomas Tuchel, England coach, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the positioning of photographers during the national anthem ceremony at the 2026 World Cup. During the match against Croatia, which England won 4-2, Tuchel was unable to see his team singing 'God Save the King'. He criticized the way photographers positioned themselves near midfield, which he believed ruined what was an emotional moment.  Tuchel said during the post-match press conference: "I am asking FIFA to change the positioning of the photographers during the national anthems because I couldn't see my team. I was waiting for this moment, it was very special. I was standing in front of a wall of 50 photographers, half a meter away from them, and I couldn't see a single player. It kind of ruined my experience. It's very emotional for me." It was England's first appearance at a major tournament since Tuchel replaced Gareth Southgate as coach. Against Croatia, Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford scored goals for England, while Croatia responded with goals from Martin Baturina and Petar Musa.
