Tottenham acquires the former Manchester United goalkeeper on a free transfer

Tottenham have announced the signing of Martin Dubravka, who is their fourth summer signing. The former Newcastle and Manchester United goalkeeper joins the club on a free transfer following the end of his contract at Burnley at the end of the 2025-26 season. This move is intended to confirm Antonin Kinsky's position as the team's starting goalkeeper. Kinsky, after a difficult performance against Atletico Madrid in March, has become an important part of Tottenham's fight to avoid relegation.  It is understood that Italian Guglielmo Vicario is planning to leave the club this summer, which gives Kinsky the opportunity to take over the number one position. Dubravka, 37, with extensive experience in the Premier League, is expected to bring important support and competition. He expressed his delight at the new challenge, saying: "It's an exciting time for me, a new journey and a new experience for me and my family. I can't wait to get started. Everything has happened very quickly and I'm very happy to be here. I've always admired the style of play of coach Roberto De Zerbi's teams and I know how great the fans are here. Tottenham is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and I can't wait to meet everyone and get started." Dubravka, who spent the 2022-23 season on loan as a backup goalkeeper at Manchester United, is known for his ability to play with his feet, which is highly valued by manager Roberto De Zerbi. He joins Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke as part of De Zerbi's summer haul. The manager expressed his satisfaction with the new signing: "I am very pleased because Martin is a goalkeeper with a lot of experience and a strong mentality. He has very important qualities for me and will bring balance, leadership and competitiveness to our dressing room." Tottenham have also been linked with West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes following the Hammers' relegation.
