Veerman expressed frustration in an ad ahead of the 2026 World Cup

 Joey Veerman expressed his frustration with the lack of 2026 World Cup call-ups in an unusual way. The PSV midfielder placed a full-page advertisement in the daily "De Telegraaf", in which he used the slogan "denim with true character" to refer to the criticism directed at him by the coach of the Dutch national team, Ronald Koeman. Veerman was not included in the squad for the 2026 World Cup, and after Euro 2024 he was not called up by Koeman at all.
