Welsh teams will meet their rivals in European cups
The New Saints, Cymru Premier champions, will face Azerbaijan's Sabah in the first round of qualifying for the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League. The away match will take place on July 7 or 8, with the return leg scheduled a week later at Park Hall Stadium. Sabah, who won Azerbaijan's first title last season, will play in European competition for the fourth time in a row. Connah's Quay, who finished the Cymru Premier in second place, will face Ballkani from Kosovo in the first round of qualifying for the Europa Conference League. Connah's Quay will play their first home game at the Llanelian Road Stadium in Colwyn Bay. The team won the Welsh Cup for the first time in their history, beating Flint Town United 3-0 in the final, giving them a place in European competition for the second time in three seasons. Penybont, thanks to their victory in the Cymru Premier play-offs, will face Santa Coloma from Andorra. The first match will take place at Cardiff City Stadium. Santa Coloma eliminated Penybont in the first qualifying round of the 2023-24 Europa Conference League, winning 3-1 on aggregate. All first matches will take place on Thursday, July 9, with the return matches scheduled for Thursday, July 16.
