We checked what it all looks like in practice yesterday, on the second day of the camp.
35 children took part in activities on a pitch in New Jersey, located right next to the New York Red Bulls stadium. To enter the pitch, the kids lined up in two rows and to the sounds of the song "We Will Rock You" performed by Queen, they entered the pitch and took the appropriate steps. As one of the coaches said, it was supposed to look like the players entering the stadium.
After such an impressive entrance, the kids started warming up and then moved on to technical exercises. They studied, among others: how to pass the ball correctly, how to receive it, how to shoot at goal. Everything took place in a very nice atmosphere, and the children competed with each other in completing the tasks. It was obvious that they were very happy to be able to participate in such a camp.
At the end of the classes, the kids were divided into four teams and played mini-matches. At this point, we could see on the field that there were both boys and girls among the kids.
All the best of German football, i.e. commitment, discipline, but also good fun, were transferred to this camp trip. As one of the mothers who came to this camp with her child told us, it was a camp to which she signed up her child because she knows that VfB Stuttgart is a very good club, with a very good academy, and she wanted her child to learn to play football in such a club.
There are kids at the camp not only from the United States, but also from Canada. For example, there is a girl who comes from Vancouver and came here just for this camp to learn to play football under the supervision of Stuttgart coaches.
