Key Takeaways

  • Visit to Kids Camp Stuttgart: on the pitch with enthusiasm, before.
  • The VfB Stuttgart football school in New Jersey is in full swing.
  • Zu Besuch in Stuttgarts Kids Camp: Begeistert auf dem Platz, schüchtern nur am Mikro.
The VfB Stuttgart football school in New Jersey is in full swing. For four days, from October 9 to 12, 37 kids aged 6 to 13 from various parts of the United States, as well as one from Canada, have the opportunity to learn and have fun playing football under the supervision of Stuttgart coaches. The kids take part in technical classes, play mini-matches, and participate in activities such as team-building games and fitness tests. We checked what it all looks like in practice yesterday, on the second day of the camp. 35 children took part in activities on a pitch in New Jersey, located right next to the New York Red Bulls stadium. To enter the pitch, the kids lined up in two rows and to the sounds of the song "We Will Rock You" performed by Queen, they entered the pitch and took the appropriate steps. As one of the coaches said, it was supposed to look like the players entering the stadium. After such an impressive entrance, the kids started warming up and then moved on to technical exercises. They studied, among others: how to pass the ball correctly, how to receive it, how to shoot at goal. Everything took place in a very nice atmosphere, and the children competed with each other in completing the tasks. It was obvious that they were very happy to be able to participate in such a camp. At the end of the classes, the kids were divided into four teams and played mini-matches. At this point, we could see on the field that there were both boys and girls among the kids. All the best of German football, i.e. commitment, discipline, but also good fun, were transferred to this camp trip. As one of the mothers who came to this camp with her child told us, it was a camp to which she signed up her child because she knows that VfB Stuttgart is a very good club, with a very good academy, and she wanted her child to learn to play football in such a club. There are kids at the camp not only from the United States, but also from Canada. For example, there is a girl who comes from Vancouver and came here just for this camp to learn to play football under the supervision of Stuttgart coaches. In addition to activities on the pitch, other activities are also planned, for example yesterdaythe kids had the opportunity to see the New York Red Bulls stadium, and today, on Wednesday, they will have the opportunity to visit the stadium of New York City, the second club from New York, but already from the MLS league. As I mentioned at the beginning, the camp is taking place in New York, but it is not a camp that was organized by the American VfB Stuttgart, but by the German VfB Stuttgart and the coaches who came here to the United States are coaches from the VfB Stuttgart academy. Next year, in October, Stuttgart's next visit to the United States is planned, but to a different place. Next year it will be a visit to Chicago and the VfB Stuttgart football school will also be held there. Of course, kids from the United States and Canada will be able to sign up for this camp and come to it, but there are also plans to sign up for kids from Europe, which would be a novelty, because this year the camp was only for kids from North America.

What happens next

Campers will continue their activities over the following days, and their skills will be developed through various training sessions and mini-matches. As the camp progresses, children will have the opportunity to further improve their technique and teamwork, which is crucial in football.
