Great goal by Vinícius Jr. saves Brazil in the match against Morocco
Author: Neil Johnston, BBC Sport journalist
“I'm not here to be the best player in the tournament,” Vinícius Jr. said. on the eve of Brazil's first World Cup match.
"I'm here to help Brazil get back to the top."
And the talented winger confirmed these words on the pitch of the New Jersey New York Stadium, when in the 56th minute he scored an amazing goal that saved the team a point in the match against Morocco.
The Brazilians were losing 0-1 and playing poorly when Vinícius, receiving a pass from Bruno Guimarães in the left corner of the penalty area, went inside on his right foot and placed the ball in the top of the goal with a beautiful shot.
It was a World Cup-worthy goal - a brilliant display of skill that saved Brazil from its first ever defeat in a World Cup opening match (the last defeat was in 1934) - and gave the team a 1-1 draw in the match.
Unfortunately, the Canarinhos were unable to take control of the match after equalizing and the match ended in a draw.
Former England captain Alan Shearer, commenting on the match for the BBC, described Brazil's performance as "chaotic".
South American football expert Tim Vickery, also in an interview with the BBC, added: "Ideally you want the team to make the stars, here you have a case of the star saving the team."
'We expected more from Brazil'
However, Brazilian fans should remember that this year's World Cup is the only one in history that is a marathon, not a sprint.
Let's remember that four years ago, Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia in the first match, but still won the World Cup.
Brazil, still waiting to win the World Cup since 2002, should also qualify for the knockout stages.
The next group matches will take place on June 19 in Philadelphia against Haiti and on June 24 in Miami against Scotland.
However, what is disturbing is that in the match against Morocco, the Brazilians played poorly and did not show their characteristic style of play.
There are currently too many wingers in the team and a lack of players in midfield.
In the match against Morocco, 34-year-old Casemiro moved too slowly on the pitch and was replaced during the break.
The Brazilians had no control over the situation on the pitch in the first half and coach Carlo Ancelotti had to be responsible for it, as he made changes during the break.

"I expected better play, better technique from Brazilian players," former Uruguayan midfielder and now expert Gus Poyet said in an interview with BBC Sport.
"I was surprised by how poorly they played today in terms of technique. I don't know if it was the pitch's fault, but the Brazilian players mixed up very simple passes."
Vickery added: "That's why Brazil is so dangerous. How many teams can play so poorly and still be in the game? It's all down to individuality."
'We'll see if Vinícius Jr. will be the leader of Brazil'
Ancelotti's first match at the World Cup ended in doubt.
"It's a beautiful moment for me," said the Italian on the eve of the match, referring to taking over as coach of the Brazilian national team.
Ancelotti was hired after the national team's poor performance in the World Cup qualifiers - the team suffered 6 defeats in 18 matches and finished 5th in theSouth America, which meant that qualifying for the World Cup was in jeopardy.
Brazil eventually advanced, but a poor qualifying performance raised questions about the makeup of the current squad.
And the match against Morocco also raised questions.
"It wasn't a bad result, but we have to play better," Ancelotti said.
"We need to be more balanced and more aggressive."
Is Vinicius Jr. will be the leader of Brazil?
Vinícius' goal was a moment of fine football art that everyone expected from this talented player.
But is Vinicius Jr. Will he become the leader of the Brazilian national team in the future and lead it to victory in the World Cup?
"The expectations were that he would be the main figure of the Brazilian national team at this point, but there are some doubts," said Brazilian football expert Marcus Alves.
"But there's no doubt about his talent."
Hart added: "We can't expect players like that to shine for 90 minutes in every match. They need moments like that."
“He was the unsung hero in that match, but he had that moment where he shined.”
Will Brazil disappoint in this tournament?
I can't imagine that with such a wealth of talent, the team would play so poorly in subsequent matches.
But is Vinicius Jr. Will he lead this team or will it be other players? This is a question that remains unanswered for now."
