Arsenal are considering Barcola as an alternative to Rogers
Arsenal is intensifying its search for Barcola from PSG as an alternative to Morgan Rogers, who is valued at £130 million by Aston Villa. Barcola, whose contract runs until 2028, could be a cheaper option for the Gunners.
Arsenal are set to increase their interest in Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola this week after receiving indications the striker could be available in the summer. BBC Sport understands that Arsenal officials, who have been monitoring Barcola for some time, intend to re-examine his play in the World Cup round of 16 match against Sweden on Tuesday. English striker Morgan Rogers, 23, is a top target but recent reports suggest Aston Villa value him at £130m, which would pose a barrier to a transfer. However, Rogers is not the only striker on Arsenal's wish list, as 23-year-old Barcola is also seen by the Gunners' recruitment staff as a strong alternative option. Yan Diomande's ongoing transfer from RB Leipzig to PSG could have an impact on Barcola's future. Barcola's current contract with the defending Champions League champions expires in the summer of 2028, meaning any transfer for the winger would cost significantly less than in the case of Rogers, whose contract with Aston Villa runs until 2031. If PSG are willing to consider offers for Barcola this summer, Arsenal will be among the clubs keen to sign him, as will Liverpool, who are also monitoring the Frenchman's situation. Meanwhile, Arsenal are also showing strong interest in Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier. There are doubts over Kepa Arrizabalaga's future as Arsenal's back-up goalkeeper next season, with the club exploring the market for a goalkeeper. Meslier, who lost his place in Leeds' starting XI, is in the final year of his contract with the club and could leave on a free transfer.
