Rangers with direct talks about the transfer of the 22-year-old defender

According to Rangers News, cited by The Daily Record, the Rangers club is in direct contact with Hampus Skoglund's representatives ahead of a potential transfer in the summer window. The defender, known for his performances at Hammarby, is also being monitored by German side Schalke. Skoglund, a 22-year-old player who represents Sweden at U21 level, came through the academies of IK Frej and Hammarby before making his senior debut for the latter club. So far, he has played in 80 matches for Bajen. Rangers are accelerating talks to strengthen their right-back position following the departure of James Tavernier. The club is considering several options, including Skoglund, to restore balance at the position. Previously, Danny Rohl used Dujon Sterling and Max Aarons in this position, but both players have their limitations - Sterling often struggles with injuries, and Aarons returns to Bournemouth after the end of his loan.  Skoglund, although he has extended his contract with Hammarby until 2029, is valued at around £2 million. Interest from FSV Mainz 05, Wrexham and Girona could increase his price, so Rangers must act quickly to complete the transfer. The player is valued for his energy, endurance and ability to maintain balance between attack and defense. Despite some weaknesses, such as aerial play, he offers tactical flexibility and can be deployed as a traditional right-back, an attacking shuttle or an inverted option.
